BGMI esports scene is witnessing a never-seen-before growth as tournaments and scrims are coming back. Thousands of fanatics are glued to the YouTube channels of tournament organizers to watch their favorite teams and players battle it out against other high-level players of the country to emerge as champions.

Tapping on the popularity of BGMI’s esports scene among players, Krafton announced on its social media handles the roadmap for 2022. Going by the announcement, the Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge will be the first tournament of the season.

Following the registrations, which kicked off on March 14 and ran till March 27, the in-game quarters were played by all the registered BGMI teams from April 4 to April 11. The results were announced on April 17, which made everyone excited about the kick-off of the main tournament.

The developer took to BGMI’s official Instagram handle and YouTube channel to announce the start date of Round 1. Based on the video, the tournament will start on April 21. It will run till May 15.

Format for the BGMI tournament BMOC 2022?

The upcoming tournament is meant for emerging players in the country. They will be taking part in three rounds, and the best teams will make their way to the Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS) Season 1, which will be the culminating event. Here’s the format:

Round 1: 512 teams pan India are chosen depending on their performance in the in-game qualifiers. They will enter the first round, which will kick off the tournament. The teams will be divided into 32 groups, where each group will have to play five matches.

Round 2: The top eight teams from each group of round one will be promoted to the second round. The 256 qualified squads will take part in high level of competition across several days.

Round 3: 64 qualified teams from that stage will go to round three and will be divided into four groups. Only the top six from each group will take part in BMPS Season 1.
