For the invited teams, The Grind acts as an official scrims session, preparing them for the forthcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023. BGIS 2023: The Grind is all set to commence on July 20, 2023, paving the way for BGIS 2023, which follows soon after. Although the exact schedule and number of matches are yet to be confirmed, we can speculate based on the previous year’s event. The Grind 2021 was an eight-day affair featuring 32 invited teams. This year’s event is expected to have similar parallels.

BGIS 2021: The Grind was divided into two stages. The league stage involved 32 invited teams, divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Each group consisted of eight teams, competing in a round-robin format. In the first league stage, a total of 24 matches were played over six days. The final stage lasted for two days, where the top 16 teams from the league stage battled it out for a prize pool of 200,000 INR. Team XO Triumph secured the first position with a total of 173 points, while Team TSM and Godlike secured second and third positions with 157 and 154 points, respectively. Savitar was honored with the MVP title of BGIS 2021: The Grind.

On July 14, 2023, Krafton teased the BGIS 2023 Rise Up through an official teaser. The Grind of BGIS 2023 acts as the official scrimmage session for the invited teams before the main event begins. As per Krafton’s recent announcement, BGIS 2023: The Grind is scheduled to commence on July 20, 2023.

According to the official announcement, a total of 256 teams have received invitations to participate in The Grind event of BGIS 2023. Several Tier 1 teams such as Team Soul, Godlike, OR Esports, and more are already confirmed. Additionally, underdog teams from BGIS Season 1, along with teams that performed well in the inaugural season of BGIS 2021 rounds 2, 3, and 4, have also secured invitations.

BGIS 2021: The Grind spanned across a period of 13 days and featured 32 invited teams divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Eight teams competed in each group, battling it out for a prize pool of 200,000 INR.

The top 16 teams from the initial 32 invited teams qualified for the finals of BGIS: The Grind. The finals took place over two days, with Team XO emerging as the winners. Team TSM secured the runners-up position, while Godlike Esports claimed the third spot. Savitar from Team Forever earned the prestigious MVP title of BGIS 2021: The Grind.
