In less than a month, the prices of the Chroma and Chroma 2 cases have nearly doubled from $1.75 to $3.50, and older, more expensive cases like the Huntsman case have increased from $7.65 to almost eleven dollars. Due to the hype, some players chose to try their luck at snatching the inflated skins out of the case rather than paying the price for them.

In addition, players looking to make a quick buck have started opening a lot of extra cases in the hopes of snagging rare items to profit from the market’s extreme inflation. This March was so busy with cases that players opened 39.5 million more than their previous monthly record. The soft launch for Counter-Strike 2 is still scheduled for the summer of 2023. Valve is actively working to refine the game and get it ready for launch in the upcoming months as more players gain access to the closed beta. After about a month of anticipation, it appears that skin prices will only go up, possibly up to the game’s launch.
