The quality of the Championship continues to improve every season, and the three clubs promoted from it into the Premier League will be hoping for a successful campaign next year. Here is a look at three players who look to have the ability to make the step up to the top flight.

Ryan Yates (Nottingham Forest)

Midfielder Ryan Yates has been a big part of Nottingham Forest’s success this season. The 24-year-old was named in the Championship Team of the Season, after scoring eight goals across the campaign. Yates will be hoping to help his side to Championship play-off glory, which would ensure he gets the chance to play in the Premier League next season.

Forest are one of the popular football bets for the Championship play-offs. The talented midfielder picked up an injury in the first leg of his side’s semi-final encounter with Sheffield United. They are 7/4 favourites in the bet on English Championship market for the competition which suggests they are the most likely of the four teams to get promoted at Wembley.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic broke the league record for the most goals in a season when he netted his 43rd of the campaign in his side’s 7-0 victory over Luton Town. The Serbian has had an incredible year, and he should be full of confidence when he returns to the Premier League. Next season will be Mitrovic’s fourth season in the Premier League, so he knows what it is all about. The most he has scored in a campaign in the top flight in England in a season is 11 goals.

The Cottagers striker is now a much better player, and he could be the man who helps the West London club stay up. Mitrovic will be very motivated to prove that he is good enough to match the best strikers in the Premier League. The former Newcastle United player should continue to get excellent service from his Fulham teammates, so the goals are unlikely to dry up.

Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth)

The Cherries are back in the Premier League next season, after they finished second in the Championship. One of their stand-out players in the 2021/22 campaign has been defender Lloyd Kelly. He has improved into an excellent centre-half in Scott Parker’s side. Bournemouth kept 20 clean sheets last season. They had the best defensive record in the Championship, as they conceded just 39 goals. Kelly was at the heart of the defence, and he hardly put a foot wrong all year.

Kelly was appointed Bournemouth’s captain when Steve Cook left the club. He has shown all his leadership skills in that role. The Englishman will want to impress national team boss Gareth Southgate next season. If he shows he can handle some of the best players in the world in the Premier League, he may get his first call-up for the Three Lions. With a World Cup at the back end of the year, there may still be enough time to do that before the tournament in Qatar.

The 2022/23 Premier League campaign begins on the 6th August. Keep an eye out for the above three players as they bid to prove they have the quality to deliver in the league.
