With another action-packed Premier League weekend coming to a close, fans are able to get a better sense of understanding of where their teams might finish at the end of the campaign. There were mouth-watering clashes from top to bottom, producing many surprising results. The top-of-the-table clash between Manchester City and Liverpool was the most-anticipated match of the weekend. A draw in the match means the title race will go down the wire. There were also thrilling relegation battles, with Everton and Leeds United being the biggest winners down at the bottom of the table.

Let us take a look at the Premier League roundup of the weekend matches and check out the winners and losers from Matchday 32:

Title battle: Manchester City vs Liverpool

Liverpool traveling to Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City was the eagerly awaited clash of the weekend. The match did not fail to live up to its expectations. The end-to-end game was played at a breakneck tempo for large portions of the 90 minutes. In the end, it finished 2-2 after Liverpool twice came from behind to earn a point. After Kevin De Bruyne opened the score through a deflected goal, Diogo Jota equalised in the 13th minute.

However, City went ahead thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ goal eight minutes before half-time. At the start of the second period, Sadio Mane, however, pulled one back for the Reds to make it 2-2. Hence, Manchester City continue to top the Premier League table with 74 points from 31 games and Liverpool are a point behind at 73 from the same number of matches. With seven games left in the season, the battle for the Premier League title looks all set to go down the wire.

Top four race: Everton vs Manchester United, Arsenal vs Brighton, Aston Villa vs Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are the biggest winners in the race for the top four places. While Spurs trounced Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa 4-0, thanks to Son Heung-min’s hat-trick, their rivals lost their way. Manchester United suffered an embarrassing 0-1 defeat against struggling Everton and Arsenal lost 1-2 at home to Brighton. At the end of the weekend, Tottenham are sitting at fourth with 57 points from 31 games, while Arsenal have three points less but have a game in hand.

Even if the Gunners win their pending game, Antonio Conte’s men will still hold on to the fourth place due to their superior goal difference. Meanwhile, Manchester United look more or less out of the race for the Premier League top-four battle. Ralf Rangnick’s side have 51 points from 31 games and have extremely difficult matches against Liverpool (away), Arsenal (away) and Chelsea (home) yet to come. Spurs are in the hot seat right now to secure the coveted fourth spot.

Relegation battle: Everton vs Manchester United, Norwich vs Burnley, Watford vs Leeds United, Newcastle vs Wolves

The relegation fights were equally intriguing as the battle for the top positions in the table. The biggest winners from the weekend are Everton. While Frank Lampard’s side stunned a toothless Manchester United, their two immediate rivals lost. 18th-placed Burnley lost 0-2 at Norwich City, while 19-placed Watford suffered a 0-3 demolition against fellow strugglers Leeds United at home.

Currently, 17-placed Everton have 28 points from 30 games and have a four-point cushion over Burnley. Meanwhile, Watford and Norwich have 22 and 21 points respectively from 31 games. Their hopes of staying alive in the Premier League look slim. Besides, Leeds’ latest win means they have 33 points from 32 games. Newcastle was another big winner of the weekend having beaten Wolves 1-0. They now have a 10-point gap over Burnely having played 31 matches.
