Manchester United are preparing for a crucial Premier League battle against Brentford on Wednesday night, but the Red Devils will have to make do without the presence of one of their important first-team players. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has informed that right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka will not only miss the match against Brentford but will also be out of the West Ham United clash coming Saturday. The English full-back is still sidelined with the illness that ruled him out of the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday. As a result, Diogo Dalot started at Villa Park on the right side of a back four and will be a strong contender to feature against the Bees at the Brentford Community Stadium.

When asked if Wan-Bissaka might be available for the trip south to the capital, Rangnick told MUTV: “No, not yet. He’s still ill, I’m afraid. He will not be available for the game tomorrow and also probably not available for the West Ham game. Hopefully, after the international break, he will be back for training.”

This season, the full-back has made 15 starts in the Premier League and with it has taken his overall tally to 84 appearances for Manchester United in the competition. Rangnick then gave a further update about the rest of the squad.

Ralf Rangnick: Jesse Lingard might be out

“Yes, apart from that, we have all other players available. Jesse Lingard might be out through injury. We have to wait and see what happens with Anthony Martial. He didn’t train yesterday, neither on Sunday. According to the doctor, he informed me before the press conference that he can be a candidate for training today. Then we will see after the training and take it from there,” he explained.

Rangnick also gave his thoughts on Brentford and how impressed he has been with the team this season. “Yes, with a smaller club like Brentford, the influence of the board and especially a coach like Thomas Frank is high. You can see exactly what he wants them to play. Very structured, 3-5-2 formation,” he added.

“They’re not easy to play against at all, especially at home. They are stronger at home than away and you can also see that if you look at the results, home and away. For us, we need to have the confidence. We showed that confidence at Villa Park for 70 minutes, that we can travel there and win the game. Obviously after giving away the two points in the last 15 minutes of the game, we need the three points tomorrow even more, so we have the confidence that we are able to win there.”
