Manchester United had to settle for a disappointing draw against Watford in the Premier League on Saturday. The one point gained from the goalless draw at Old Trafford will not do much good for United in their push for a top four place. Hence, the club will be looking for a quick response in their next match. What better way to bounce back for the Reds than against their city rivals in the Manchester derby. It is a match that will hold significance for both teams. Manchester City need the three points to maintain their title charge, while United also want the points to keep their top four hopes alive.

Star attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes wants Manchester United to shift their focus to the upcoming match, as he wants the team to get all three points from it at all costs. On Saturday, Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo came close to scoring a goal, but neither could succeed. Speaking about the frustrating draw, the Portuguese attacker told club media, “We tried [to find the net] but the ball seemed to bounce off every player, our players, their players. As I’ve said before it was just one of those days where the ball wouldn’t go in. Unfortunately for us it was just one point.”

A victory against Watford would have helped United go within one point of third-placed Chelsea, but it wasn’t to be in the end. ”As I have said many times, we have dropped points on third place again,” he lamented. “I think that’s the main thing for us, as we could be much closer to them [Chelsea]. However, now is not the time to start thinking about how many points we should have now or how many points we should have in the end. We have to look to the next game, to win the game and to get three points again.”

Bruno Fernandes: We know what it means for the city

Manchester United have an entire week to prepare for the clash against current league leaders Manchester City. United have won five of the last seven derbies at the Etihad Stadium. ”It’s one of those games where we know what it means for the city, for the fans, for the club and for ourselves. It’s a game we want to win at all costs,” he added.

Meanwhile, interim manager Ralf Rangnick also had his say about the upcoming Premier League match against Manchester City. He added, “There is nothing else that we can do now. We have to work hard in order to get ready and prepare ourselves for the derby next Sunday, but those two points that we dropped here today, they hurt. We will start [preparing for the City game] at the beginning of next week. But right now, it feels awful, and as I said it’s not the first time that we dropped two valuable points.”
