Manchester City will be aiming to further extend their lead at the top of the Premier League standings when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The Cityzens are currently nine points clear of second-placed Liverpool at the summit, while Tottenham sit at the eighth position, seven points adrift the top-four. Pep Guardiola’s side are coming into the match on the back of a stunning 5-0 win against Sporting Lison in the Champions League last-16 first leg encounter on Wednesday while Spurs suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Wolves on Sunday.

Against Sporting, Bernardo Silva scored a double while Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling also got on the score-sheet as Guardiola’s side thrashed the Portuguese club to take one step into the last-8. The Cityzens are also chasing the FA Cup success this term, preparing to travel to Peterborough United in the fifth round fixture of the competition at the start of March.

City are in a strong position to retain the league title with 63 points from their opening 25 games. Nine points ahead of the Reds, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have a game in hand, so the Sky Blues cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal and will be fired up to take all three points against a struggling Spurs.

Man City are unbeaten in the league since the end of October, winning 14 of their last 15 games, which is an incredible run of form at this level of football, and they have been defensively impressive, conceding just 14 goals, which is the best record in the English top division.

On the other hand, Spurs have been struggling defensively, having conceded 10 goals in their last five games. The recent form of Antonio Conte’’s side also hasn’t been great having lost 3-2 to Southampton in a thrilling encounter before being beaten 2-0 by Wolves.

Spurs have netted just 28 times this season

Conte’s side will be the underdogs heading into this weekend fixture, but the capital club have won three of their last four Premier League games against Man City, with each of the victories coming in London.

Spurs have netted just 28 times this season with star striker Harry Kane, who was denied a move to Etihad stadium last summer, finding the back of the net on just five occasions. Conte’s attacking lineup has good pace and they are capable of hitting the opposition on the counter. Therefore Conte could set his team to sit back and defend and hit the Manchester outfit on the counter using the pace of Son Heung-min and Lucas.

Although City are firm favourites heading into the tie, Spurs have a quality lineup capable of upsetting any team on their day, therefore it’s going to be an exciting encounter at Etihad Stadium.
