Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will be available for selection in Thursday night Premier League action against Leicester. The Egyptian forward will return to join his club after serving his nation at AFCON. His national team reached the final of the prestigious African Cup but failed to win against Sadio Mane’s Senegal. Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he has spoken to Salah and he is eager to make his presence felt for the Merseyside club in their next fixture. The German mentioned, however, mentioned that Salah will need to undergo a little recovery session as soon as he joins the club but his physical ability will help him recover in time.

“Mo is now back, I spoke already to him. He is very disappointed of course, but looking forward to all the things coming up here now. I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready.’ Haha!

“He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see. He will obviously have a little recovery session today and we will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we go,” he added.

Senegal star Sadio Mane will not be available for the Leicester match. He will fly out of his homeland only on Wednesday night after earning the coveted trophy but will be available for selection as soon as he joins the club and undergoes recovery.

“Sadio flies out if it’s possible on Wednesday night, so will arrive here on Thursday but he is, of course, then not involved in the Leicester game.

“It means the world to him, it means the world to his people, it means the world to Senegal and we respect that a lot and we would never consider to have called back him from there or whatever – let them do what they do in the moment because they deserve it,” Klopp said.

“They’ve had an incredibly intense time, so when he is back we will talk to him and we will see how we can use him,” he added.

Mane was named as the AFCON player of the tournament and described the triumph as the best day of his life. He put behind a penalty miss the final to score from the spot later to seal the deal for his nation. The 29-year-old further wants to win the Champions League someday with his club.
