Cristiano Ronaldo news: Manchester United forward’s baby boy passes away

The iconic Manchester United forward announced the sad news on Instagram, saying it is the “greatest pain” any parent can feel.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Monday that one of his twin babies – a baby boy – has passed away. Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez revealed in October last year that they were expecting twins. The baby girl lived, however, the boy could not survive, leaving the 37-year-old striker and his partner heartbroken. The iconic Manchester United forward announced the sad news on Instagram, saying it is the “greatest pain” any parent can feel.

Ronaldo shared a post on social media, which contained the text: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”

The end of the statement had both Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez’s names written on it. It is to be noted that Ronaldo is already a father to four children – twins Eva Maria and Mateo, youngest Alana Martina and eldest son Cristiano Jr.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Premier League giants Manchester United only last summer from Juventus. It is the second time in his career that the Portuguese forward has joined the Old Trafford outfit. He started his senior career with Sporting Lisbon but it was at Real Madrid where Ronaldo reached monumental heights as a footballer.

Condolences started to pour in for the couple with former players and fans expressing their sadness and support for the legendary footballer. His current club, Manchester United, also released a statement in a post on Twitter. The statement read: “Your pain is our pain, Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
