The Madison event’s star attraction, Harshita Jakhar, stole the show and took home the bronze. She won her second medal as an individual and the team’s third overall in the championship. She had previously taken home silver in individual pursuit and bronze in team pursuit competitions.
After a fierce battle with the more seasoned Korean riders Yeeun BAE & Harang Hong, Harshita Jakhar & Dhanyadha JP were able to secure a bronze. Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Rakhmzhan and Mariya Yelkina took home the gold. In the Madison event, racers must pedal their bikes for 60 circuits over a distance of 15 km then compete in six sprints at their highest level. “I’m very happy and lucky to see that my daughter is winning the medals on the same track where ever I performed,” expressed Harshita’s father, Rakesh Kumar. She truly defeated me today, and for a proud father, there is no better day than this one. She has only just begun her career, yet she has already won three medals for India. She will undoubtedly take home numerous more medals from the next championships.
