Wriddhiman Saha tests negative. After testing positive twice and 17 days in quarantine, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha finally tested negative for COVID-19. He is now cleared for India’s tour of England. The Sunrisers Hyderabad player tested positive for the COVID on May 4 and went into isolation before IPL 2021 was suspended. He is now in Kolkata and will join the UK-bound team for the ICC WTC Finals soon.

After Wriddhiman Saha tested positive, SRH’s game on May 4 was cancelled. They had to play against Mumbai Indians. His second COVID-19 test came out positive at the end of the isolation period in Delhi. He was then forced to stay in isolation. As per protocol, a player needs to return two negative COVID-19 tests to be fit to leave quarantine.

Uncertainty of tests

At first, Saha tested negative but his second test returned a positive result. Now that both of his tests have returned negative, he is reunited with his family in Kolkata. He has to soon leave for Mumbai to join India’s bio-bubble. He will leave to May 24 to join other players based in Mumbai.

In an interview with Anandbazar Patrika, Saha said everyone became scared. “After being infected by it, I was bound to feel scared. Everyone in the family was very worried. We reassured them through video calls that there is no reason to be afraid,” Saha said.

Wriddhiman Saha is a part of the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand. Matches will be played in Southampton from June 18. Saha will have to pass the fitness test. He is also a part of India’s five-match Test series against England. Saha could play the role of a backup wicketkeeper.

“He has just recovered from Covid-19. Due to the presence of antibodies, he is at low risk of picking up a fresh infection.” a source told The Telegraph.
