Cricket enthusiasts were disheartened when Harsha Bhogle, widely regarded as the ‘Voice of Cricket,’ disclosed on Thursday that he had contracted dengue fever. Regrettably, this ailment compelled him to withdraw from the commentary box for the high-voltage clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the World Cup 2023, hosted in Ahmedabad, on the upcoming Saturday. Bhogle chose to share this news via his official platform on the social media network X, previously known as Twitter. The 62-year-old commentator took a moment to express his gratitude towards his co-commentators and the entire broadcast team who graciously shouldered the additional workload during his withdrawal from the second innings of the India vs. Australia match in Chennai due to health concerns.

Looking ahead to rejoining the commentators’ ranks, Harsha Bhogle conveyed his aspiration to resume his commentary duties during India’s match against Bangladesh scheduled for October 19 in Pune. In his own words, “I am disappointed at having to miss out on #IndiavsPak on the 14th. But I have dengue, and the resulting weakness, along with lowered immunity, makes it unfeasible. I am optimistic about making a comeback in time for the game on the 19th. My colleagues and the broadcast team have extended invaluable support and carried the extra load during the second half of #IndiaVsAus. I look forward to personally thanking them.”
