South Africa Women will take on India Women in the final of the Women’s T20I Tri-Series on February 2 at Buffalo Park in East London, South Africa.
India won the last league game against the Windies. South Africa Women will take on India Women in the final of the Women’s T20I Tri-Series on February 2 at Buffalo Park in East London, South Africa. With India electing to bowl, Deepti’s fly and dip sparked the West Indies’ collapse. She first dismissed Rashada Williams, who had opened alongside Hayley Matthews as West Indies tried yet another top-order combination, before duplicating the performance against Shemaine Campbelle with her next ball. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, a left-arm spinner, trapped Djenaba Joseph in front before Matthews and Shabika Gajnabi maintained the fort. Vastrakar, on the other hand, managed to bounce Matthews out for a run-a-ball 34, leaving West Indies at 53 for 4 in the 12th over.
The three teams will play each other twice in the round-robin stage until the top two teams compete in the final on February 2, followed by a short break before the World Cup which begins on February 10. The World Cup will be held in Cape Town, Gqeberha, and Paarl until February 26. “These two sides [India and West Indies] are up there with the most talented and entertaining nations in women’s T20 cricket, having featured in two of the last four finals, with the West Indies lifting the trophy in 2016. This will give the Momentum Proteas a highly competitive build-up to the ultimate prize of the T20 World Cup”, Enoch Nkwe, CSA’s director of cricket, earlier said in a statement.
