The fifteenth match of WPL 2023 will be played between Mumbai Indians Women and UP Warriorz at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on March 18. Mumbai Indians are the table-toppers and they have qualified for the playoffs with 5 wins on a trot and 10 points in their name. On the other hand, UP Warriorz are in third place with 2 wins out of 5 so far.
Mumbai Indians Women registered a win by 55 runs against Gujarat Giants where Yastika Bhatia scored 44 and Harmanpreet Kaur scored a quickfire fifty. They posted a huge total of 162 and successfully restricted to the opponents 107. Meanwhile, UP Warriorz lost their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women who won by 5 wickets.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians captain said: “Credit goes to all the support staff and team-mates. The way we have been playing, we want to continue. We are so positive and they always want to do well for the team. When we got this team, I was really happy, they were doing well for the country and now they will do the same for MI. The positivity is giving all the results. When we played last game on this wicket, initially you are not going to get runs. Once you get settled you will get runs. That’s what I did today. Whatever which is giving results is what I’m doing. Sometimes you have to see the boundary dimensions as well. The leg-side is short and a medium-pacer was bowling and that’s why I went and the last-over anyway you need to go, but this was the longer boundary and I could not clear.”
Alyssa Healy, the UP Warriorz captain said: “We weren’t up to standard tonight and the total was under par, not good enough. The wicket was holding a bit, it was like wet clay and we got ahead of ourselves, losing three wickets in the powerplay is not great. It was spin to win, the ball was gripping and we needed wickets, we thought it would be spinners to get us those wickets. (On RCB getting their first win) Full credit to them, they are a good side and things haven’t gone their way. They turned up tonight after losing five games and were the better team.”
