The ninth match of WPL 2023 will be played between Gujarat Giants Women and Delhi Capitals at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on March 11. While Gujarat Giants bounced back to a thrilling win over Royal Challengers Bangalore Women after losing their first two games against Mumbai Indians Women and UP Warriorz respectively, Delhi Capitals had a stunning start to the tournament. They won two games against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and UP Warriorz respectively before losing to Mumbai Indians as well.
However, Delhi Capitals are currently placed second in the points table with two wins so far whereas Gujarat Giants are placed fourth as well. Gujarat Giants posted a huge 201 runs over Royal Challengers Bangalore and they were on the verge of losing. However, a few good overs towards the end saw them winning the game by 11 runs as well.
Sneh Rana, Gujata Giants Captain said: “Amazing, incredible, superb effort from the girls, very proud of them. Injury is fine, it will get fine. Defending here in CCI is never easy, it is always high scoring but we lived up to the game. (On Sutherland death bowling) We thought of giving her the overs because she bowls good wide yorkers. I think we have good balance, we have a good combination. This is something we were looking for since the first game, but now that we have got our first points, we are very happy.”

On the other hand, Meg Lanning, DC captain said after losing their last game: “Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. But we were in a similar position after the 12-over mark. Mumbai bowled excellently. That’s the game – sometimes it doesn’t go your way. The pitch definitely had something in it for the bowlers, which is a good thing. You can’t go out there looking at 180 from the start. Need to build partnerships. That’s what we weren’t able to do today. I thought Rodrigues came out and attacked the bowling. Capsey’s bowling beautifully. Hopefully I can keep contributing and we have a few more wins in us.”
