Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals got off to a stunning start as they won their first game. Although Radha Yadav proved to be expensive against Royal Challengers Bangalore, they have Poonam Yadav. They might include Laura Harris or Titas Sadhu as well. On the other hand, Alyssa Healy’s UP Warriorz were on the verge of losing against Gujarat Giants but scored the 53 they needed in the last three overs – with Grace Harris and Sophia Ecclestone taking the team home.
“Was fun watching Shafali bat from the other end. It was a lot fun, we were smiling all the time. That’s the great thing about this competition, you get to play with players you wouldn’t have otherwise played with” – Delhi Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning said after the win.
“As a player, the fight [to get better] is with myself. I don’t want to prove anything to anyone. It is about having the belief and proving it to ourselves.” – Delhi Capitals’ Shafali Verma said after her unbeaten 84 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game. “I thought we’re better off going down swinging. I said it’s better to lose by 40 than stumble over the line.” – UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy said.
