The fourteenth match of WPL 2023 will be played between Delhi Capitals Women and Gujarat Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 16. Delhi Capitals placed second in the points table with 8 points whereas Gujarat Giants placed fourth with 2 points as well.
Delhi Capitals won by 6 wickets in their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where RCB posted 150 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Ellyse Perry scored an unbeaten fifty but her efforts went in vain as Delhi sealed the deal with ease. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants lost to Mumbai Indians in their last game by 55 runs. Mumbai Indians posted 162 runs in 20 overs and successfully restricted the opponents to 107 as well. However, they will hope to win the game as well.
Meg Lanning, the DC captain said: “It was close in the end there, JJ and Kappy did an excellent job to keep their composure. We got ahead and RCB bowled well to come back, nice to get over the line. It would have been nice to finish it earlier but the wicket got slower. Having two experienced batters at the end helped. We just executed really well, if you hit a good length, that’s the most effective way to bowl. A lot to learn from this game. To get a win under pressure will do wonders for our team. I am trying to stay calm – that’s T20 cricket for you, you are under the pump all the time. Shikha Pandey has been under the radar, she is bowling really well and having Kapp and Jess Jonassen on the field helps as well.”

Sneh Rana, the Gujarat captain said: “I am proud of the girls for restricting MI to 162, it was a good start, but unfortunately we couldn’t get there. It was a chaseable score. Definitely, batters need to focus right through, need to build at least two partnerships, Harleen was fantastic today in the field, she took a catch and effected a run-out. We will definitely work on our batting.”
