While Australia registered a convincing win in the first T20I of the ongoing Ashes 2022 series, rain played spoilsport in the second T20I in Adelaide on Saturday (January 22). And, only four overs were bowled in the second T20I which was eventually abandoned with both teams sharing a point as well. The toss was, however, delayed due to rain and the match was reduced to a 14-over-per-side each as well.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first but as early as in the second over, a slight rain started again which got heavier as the game progressed. And, then only 4.1 overs were bowled with the match finishing with England having scored 25 as well.

“It (came) out of the first game and we’re still assessing how it is and what exactly is going on,” captain Meg Lanning said post-game. “So we will know a little bit more over the next few days, but it’s obviously not ideal. Tay puts on a pretty brave face … I had a chat to her today and it’s hard to get a read on at the moment and we’ll know a little more information over the next day or so.”
