Shimron Hetmyer is a professional cricketer who belongs to Guyana. Hetmyer was born on 26 December, 1996. He represents the West Indies in International cricket. He is a left handed top order batsman in the West Indies cricket team. He received a red-ball contract with Cricket West Indies (CWI) in October 2018 for the 2018–19 season. Hetmyer served as a captain of the under 19 team of West Indies that won the World Cup in 2016. He made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2016 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). When he hit a century for Guyana Amazon Warriors against the Jamaica Tallawahs in August 2018, he became the youngest player to hit a century in CPL. 

Hetmyer was part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors’s squad in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. Before being part of Rajasthan Royals, Hetmyer was sold to Royal Challenger Bangalore in the auction that took place in December 2018 for the IPL 2019 season. By International Cricket Council, he was named in the top 8 players to look for in the year 2019. In the year 2021, Pakistan Super League was postponed and therefore, Mahmadullah wasn’t available for the remaining PSL matches. So, Multan Sultans acquired Hetmyer for their remaining matches in PSL. Hetmyer became the part of Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League 2022 season.

It was in April 2017, when Hetmyer’s name was included in the Test team of the West Indies for their series against Pakistan. He played his Test debut match on 21 April 2017 against Pakistan. It was on 20 December 2017, when Hetmyer got to play his debut One Day International match for West Indies in their series against New Zealand. He was a part of the T20 International series to be played between West Indies and New Zealand. He made his debut in T20I on 1 January, 2018. Royal Challengers Bangalore released Hetmyer before the 2020 IPL auction. In the 2020 IPL auction Hetmyer was bought by Delhi Capitals for their upcoming season.

Hetmyer achieved his 1000 runs milestone in ODI on 17 June, 2019 while playing against Bangladesh. Hetmyer will soon complete his 1000 runs in IPL, as he is less than 100 runs short.  He scored his first ODI century against United Arab Emirates in the World Cup Qualifier of 2018 on 6 March, 2018. He was rewarded as man of the match for his stunning performance. He was also part of the West Indies team for the T20 World Cup that took place in 2021. Hetmyer became the first West Indian player to score the fastest century in ODI in just 82 balls against England. He has made most of his runs in the ODI format of the game, however he has played in all the three formats of the game and has given his best for his team.
