Mark Wood, a professional cricketer who plays internationally for England national team. Mark is a right arm fast bowler, and is considered to be one of England’s fastest bowlers. He has the ability to bowl consistently at 140 km/hr and above. In all three formats of the game , he has represented England. Mark plays in domestic cricket for Durham. In England’s province of Northumberland, Ashington, Mark was born on January 11, 1990. Mark has participated in the Indian Premier League while playing for the Chennai Super Kings. Since 2020, Mark has been regarded as one of the world’s fastest bowlers because of his average Test speed of 143 km/h. 

In 2008, Mark made his county cricket debut for Northumberland against Norfolk. Between 2008 and 2010, he additionally represented Northumberland in a few minor county tournaments. For England’s 2015 test series tour to the West Indies, Mark’s name was picked in the squad. Though, he didn’t play any game in the series. On May 8, 2015, Mark played in his first One Day International game against Ireland. He participated in his first England Test match against New Zealand later that year. In the three Test matches, he grabbed a total of 6 wickets. Against New Zealand, his performance had a significant impact. On June 23, 2015, Mark played in his first T20 International (T20I) game against New Zealand in the same series. In his maiden T20 game, he took 3 wickets while giving 26 runs. He was chosen for the 2015 Ashes series. His overall performance in the series was worth noticing, as he took 9 wickets in 3 Test matches he played.

James Anderson and Jofra Archer missed England’s 2019–20 tour of South Africa due to injury and Mark got selected for the series. In the first Test, he gave an all-around performance, scoring 42 runs off just 23 balls and taking 3 wickets for just 32 runs. In the fourth Test of the series, Mark grabbed a total of 9 wickets, including 5 in the opening innings. Mark got selected in the England team for the ICC T20 world championship in 2021. He participated in the Ashes series in 2021–2022. Mark was chosen for England’s team in the 2022 ICC T20 world cup that was held in Australia. Due to an injury, he was unable to show up in the semifinals and final. He was one of the six players who won the ICC world cup both in 2019 and 2022.
