Umesh Yadav was born on 25th October 1987. He is an Indian cricketer who currently plays for the Vidarbha cricket team in domestic cricket, Middlesex and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. However, he has played for Vidarbha at the domestic level since 2008 and he is also the first player from the team to have played in the longer format as well. His One Day International (ODI) debut came against Zimbabwe in May 2010 as well.

In 2011 November, Yadav made his Test debut against the West Indies. He was the leading wicket-taker for India and third-highest overall in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup as well. He also holds the record for the highest strike rate in an innings in Test cricket after scoring 31 runs in 10 balls which came at a strike rate of 310 against South Africa in October 2019 as well. However, after the tri-series in Zimbabwe, Yadav was added as a practice bowler when India toured Sri Lanka as well. He once again returned to the team in September 2011 for a five-match ODI series against England but an injury to his left hand saw him miss the last two ODIs as well.

When the West Indies travelled in November 2011, Umesh Yadav were chosen based on their performances in the ODIs against England as well. Yadav was added as one of India’s pacers for their tour of Australia in 2011–12. He played in all four Tests, claiming 14 wickets at an average of 39.35 as well. In the third Test at the WACA Ground in Perth, he took his first five-wicket haul in the longer format with figures of 5/93 in Australia’s first and only innings as well. In December 2014, Umesh Yadav was added to the 2015 Cricket World Cup. And, he was India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 18 wickets from 8 matches and was also the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament as well.

Umesh Yadav played for Delhi Daredevils in 2010 and played for them for four seasons as well. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the 2012 IPL with 19 wickets from 17 matches which came at an average of 23.84 as well. However, prior to the 2014 season, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders and played for the side for four seasons before being released ahead of the 2018 IPL auction as well and he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He took 20 wickets from 14 matches in 2018 as well. Meanwhile, he was released by RCB ahead of the 2021 IPL auction and he was bought by Delhi. However, In February 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament as well.
