Sean Williams is a professional cricketer who plays for Zimbabwe cricket team Internationally. Sean has represented the Zimbabwe cricket team in all the three formats of the game. He was born on 26 September 1986 in the Bulawayo region of Zimbabwe. Sean is an all round player who bowls left arm orthodox and is a left handed batsman. Sean’s father is Collin Williams and his mother is Patricia Mckillop. Sean, at present is the captain of Zimbabwe Test team. Sean took the responsibility of captaincy in the Zimbabwe team when Hamilton Masakadza retired. It was in the September month of 2019, when he captained Zimbabwe team for the first time. In T20 Internationals, Sean captained Zimbabwe team during the 2019-20 Singapore Tri Nation series. 

After his outstanding performance in domestic cricket, Sean was selected in Zimbabwe’s team for their under 19 world cup campaign. Sean led the Zimbabwe team to the world cup in Sri Lanka in 2006 and also they won a match against England. Sean represented Matabeleland in first class cricket. Sean’s highest domestic score came against Centrals while he was playing for Westerns. In that particular match of 2006-07 season, Sean scored 76 runs in first innings and 129 runs in second innings. His team Westerns won the match by 77 runs. For the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League tournament of South Africa in October 2018, Sean was selected by Tshwane Spartans.

For the 2020-21 season of Logan Cup, Sean got the opportunity to play for Tuskers. With only one first class match being played by Sean, he was included in Zimbabwe’s team for their tour to South Africa. It is said that, Sean refused the central contract given by Zimbabwe Cricket Board and tried to go and play overseas for a much better opportunity. However, Sean, after three months, changed his mind and started playing for Zimbabwe. In the 2010-11 Intercontinental Cup, Sean scored 178 runs for Zimbabwe XI against Ireland. Unfortunately, he had to get himself out of the 2011 world cup, due to a thumb injury. While playing against West Indies at Roseau, Sean made his debut in Test cricket and scored 31 runs.

Sean Williams ruled himself out of the first Test match against Pakistan in 2013 due to some issues related to fees between him and board. Sean, against the United Arab Emirates on 19 February 2015 during the ICC world cup, scored 76 runs to seal the victory. Sean’s first Test hundred came against New Zealand in 2016 at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He scored 119 runs off 148 deliveries. This was the fastest Test century in Zimbabwe. While playing against the United Arab Emirates, Sean scored Zimbabwe’s fastest ODI century of Zimbabwe in April 2019. Sean was given captaincy of the Test team in 2020 for their series against Sri Lanka. Sean scored his second Test hundred in the second match and managed to draw the match. This was the first drawn Test match in Zimbabwe’s home series since 2017.
