Craig Ervine is a professional cricketer, who plays for Zimbabwe cricket team Internationally. Craig has represented the Zimbabwe cricket team in all the three formats of the game. He’s into International cricket since 2010, as he played his first One Day International (ODI) then. Craig was born 19 August 1985 in the Harare region of Zimbabwe. Craig currently captains the Zimbabwe team in ODI’s and T20 Internationals (T20I). Craig is a left handed batsman who is capable of scoring runs in the long run. Craig has represented several domestic sides in Zimbabwe while playing in the Logan Cup. Craig has already reached the milestone of 100 ODI matches for his team. This happened in January 2022, in a series against Sri Lanka.

Craig played his List A debut match for Midlands in the Faithwear Clothing Inter Provincial One Day Tournament against Matabeleland on 3 December 2003. During the 2003-04 season of Logan Cup, Craig played his first class debut match for Midlands against Mashonaland on 19 March 2004. Craig was included in Zimbabwe’s side for their 2004 ICC under 19 world cup campaign. He also played for Bexhill and Lordswood, to improve his techniques as per the English conditions. He also represented Wallace Park Club in the 2009 and 2010 season. Craig, despite playing for several teams, spent most of his domestic career while playing for Midlands in Zimbabwe. Craig scored his 1st first class hundred, after signing his contract with Southern Rocks against Mid West Rhinos in February 2010.

Craig was selected in Zimbabwe’s team as an uncapped player for the 2010 ICC T20 world cup. On 3 May 2010, he played his debut match against Sri Lanka in the group stage, however the match was affected by rain. In the 2010 Zimbabwe Micromax Tri Nation series, Craig played his debut ODI match against India. He scored 67 runs in 60 balls and remained not out and helped his team chase the target. In 2013, Craig turned down the central contract of Zimbabwe Cricket Board and went on to play for Lisburn, an Irish club. He also represented Northern Knights in the European 2013 Inter-Provincial Tournament. In the same year later, Craig went to Australia to play club cricket there.  

After 18 months of playing club cricket at different places, Craig decided to come back to Zimbabwe and represent them Internationally again. He then became part of Zimbabwe’s team that played in 2015 ICC cricket world cup in Australia. During a world cup match against India, Craig along with Brendon Taylor put up Zimbabwe’s highest 4th wicket partnership of 94 runs in a limited overs game. Craig scored his first ODI hundred against New Zealand, where he made 130 runs and helped his team chase the massive score on 2 August 2015. Craig also holds Zimbabwe’s 3rd wicket partnership record in T20I, scoring 111 runs along with Sean Williams against Ireland. In a Test match against Sri Lanka in January 2020, Craig reached the milestone of 1000 Test cricket runs.
