Rubel Hossain is a professional cricketer, who plays for Bangladesh cricket team Internationally. Rubel has represented the Bangladesh team in all the three formats of the game. Rubel was born on 1 January 1990 in Bagerhat region of Khulna, Bangladesh. Rubel is a right arm fast bowler and is considered as one of the best Bangladeshi fast bowlers. He has been a part of the national team since 2009, as he did his debut back then. Rubel has the highest bowling average among the bowlers who have bowled minimum 2000 balls in Test cricket. Rubel is also the fastest bowler of Bangladesh, as he bowled the fastest bowl for them at 149.5 km/hr. 

It was in 2007, when Rubel got the chance to play his first, first class match. He made his first class debut for Chittagong Division, where he took 1 wicket and gave 137 runs while playing against Khulna Division. After consistently performing well in the National Cricket League, Rubel got the opportunity to become part of Bangladesh under 19 team. After that, he also was selected for Bangladesh A team. A new tournament named Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a six team T20 league was started by Bangladesh Cricket Board in 2012. In the auctions of the players, Rubel Hossain was signed by Sylhet Royals for 70,000 dollars.

In the 2018-19 season of Bangladesh Premier League, Rubel was selected by Dhaka Dynamites in October 2018. In November 2019, Rubel was signed by Chattogram Challengers for the 2019-20 season of BPL. Rubel got famous when he came up with the new delivery action, which he named butterfly. In 2009, Rubel got the opportunity to play in his first One Day International match for Bangladesh. In the tri series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, Rubel played his debut ODI match against Sri Lanka. He took 4 wickets in his first match. He also played the final of the tri series, but wasn’t able to perform well. Later he was selected to play in a 3 match ODI series against Zimbabwe. 

Rubel played his first T20 International match against India in 2009 ICC T20 world cup. In the 2009 ICC world cup warm up match, he bowled the quickest bowl at 149.5 km/hr by any Bangladeshi bowler. Rubel’s best ODI bowling figures are against New Zealand, where he took 6 wickets in a match at Mirpur. Before 2015 world cup, Rubel was charged in a rape case by actress Naznin Akter. However, he was given bail by court and later was selected to play in the 2015 world cup. After Bangladesh’s victory over England in the world cup and Rubel’s match winning performance, all his charges were taken off by actress Naznin Akter lawyer. He also became part of the Bangladesh team that played at 2019 ICC cricket world cup. In the 2021 ICC T20 world cup, Rubel was selected in place of Mohammad Saifuddin.
