Nehal Wadhera is a professional cricketer, who aims to play for Indian cricket team Internationally. Nehal was born on 4 September 2000 in Ludhiana city of Punjab state, India. Nehal started playing cricket at the early age of 9 and has put in a lot of hard work to reach the level he is today. He is a left handed batsman who usually bats at the top of the order. Nehal in domestic cricket plays for Punjab cricket team. He has also played in India’s under 19 team. He is also a part time bowler who bowls leg break. Nehal gained popularity when he got to play for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2023 season. 

Nehal’s batting style is very much similar to the former Indian left handed batsman Yuvraj Singh. For his middle order performances several times, he is often called with a nickname ‘new age Yuvraj Singh’. Nehal, when initially started playing cricket, used to play under the coach Charanjit Bhangu. At the later stages of Nehal’s cricket, in his age level cricket he got trained under the coach Harjinder singh. Harjinder Singh noticed Yuvraj Singh’s glimpses in Nehal’s batting. He then got trained at the Ludhiana District Cricket Association. Nehal graduated from Satish Chander Dhawan Government College.

Nehal has represented the Punjab cricket team in under 16 and under 19 teams in Cooch Trophy and Vijay Merchant Trophy from 2015 to 2018. He finished the 2017-18 season while playing for Punjab with 529 runs. Later he was then selected for India’s under 19 team seeing his performance. It was on 17 July 2018, when Nehal played his under 19 debut match for India against Sri Lanka in a four day match. Nehal after getting selected in India’s under 19 team became the 3rd player from Ludhiana to play for India at any level. While playing in the Inter District under 23 tournament, Nehal scored 578 runs in one inning and surpassed Brian Lara’s record of highest runs in an inning.

Nehal was selected in Punjab’s team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in December 2020 for the 2020-21 season. In the mega auctions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Nehal was signed by Mumbai Indians for INR 20 lakhs. For the 2022-23 season of Ranji Trophy, Nehal was selected in Punjab’s team. On 3 January 2023, Nehal played his first class debut match for Punjab against Gujarat. In his debut match, he scored a hundred which led his team to a victory. On 18 January 2023, he scored his first double century while playing against Madhya Pradesh. Nehal was given man of the match award for his performance. He ended his first, first class season with 376 runs from 7 innings. He played his debut IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and impressed everyone with his performance.
