Mayank Markande is a professional cricketer, who aims to represent India in all the three formats of the game Internationally. Mayank has represented India Internationally only once, that too in the T20 format of the game. Mayank was born on 11 November 1997 in Bathinda region of Punjab, India. He is a right arm leg spinner, who has the ability to take wickets in quick succession. He gained quite a popularity after taking the wicket of MS. Dhoni in the 2018 Indian Premier League match (IPL). Mayank has completed his schooling from the Yadavindra Public School, in Patiala city of Punjab. His competitive cricket started right from his schooling days, as he was part of his school’s cricket team.

Mayank Markande’s consistent and impactful performance helped him to create an opportunity to play in domestic cricket. It was on 14 January 2018, when Mayank played his Twenty20 debut match for Punjab in the 2017-18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His domestic cricket’s performance opened the doors for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for him. During the IPL 2018 season auctions, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season. It was on 7 February 2018 in Bangalore, when Mayank played his List A debut match for Punjab in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had an outstanding debut, as he took 3 wickets on the occasion and 4 wickets in the second match.

After performing consistently in domestic cricket and a decent performance in Indian Premier League, Mayank got selected in India B’s team in October 2018 for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy. In the 2018-19 season of Ranji Trophy, Mayank played his first class debut match for Punjab on 1 November 2018. He had an outstanding tournament, as he was the highest wicket taking bowler for Punjab with 29 wickets in just 6 matches. He was named in eight players list to be watched out for by the International Cricket Council (ICC) before the start of the 2019 season of Indian Premier League. In the 2019-20 season of Deodhar Trophy, he was named in India’s c team.

Mayank was part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the 2020-21 season of IPL. In the 2022 mega auctions of IPL, Mayank was again signed by Mumbai Indians. Before the start of the 2023 season of IPL, he was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 50 lakhs. Mayank was included in India’s team for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December 2018. In 2019, Mayank finally got the chance to represent India Internationally. He was selected in India’s T20 International team for their series against Australia in February 2019. It was on 24 February 2019, when he played his T20I debut match for India against Australia. Mayank has played a total of 30 IPL matches so far and has managed to take 29 wickets. He can be a crucial spinner for the team, as he is capable of taking wickets while maintaining proper economy rate.
