Navod Paranawithana is a rising star in Sri Lankan cricket. A left-handed batsman and left-arm slow medium bowler, he has already made a name for himself in the country and is now eagerly knocking on the doors of the national team. Paranwithan was born on May 16, 2002 in Galle, Sri Lanka. He started playing cricket at an early age and soon showed his talent. He represented his school and county at various levels, being selected in the Sri Lanka U-19 team for the 2020 World Cup.

In the Under-19 World Cup, Paranavithan impressed with his batting and bowling skills. He scored two half-centuries and took three wickets in the tournament. His performance helped Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals of the tournament. After the U-19 World Cup, Paranawithana made his domestic cricket debut for the Sri Lanka senior team. He played for the Tamil Union Cricket Athletic Club in the 2021–22 Major Clubs Limited Overs Tournament and the Major Clubs T20 Championship.

For the 2022 Lankan Premier League (LPL), Paranwithan was selected by Colombo Stars. He had a decent tournament, averaging 112 runs in 8 matches and scoring 14. He also took 3 wickets. In the 2022–23 domestic season, Paranwithan continued to make an impact. He scored 680 runs at an average of 68 in 10 list matches and took 14 wickets. He also scored 328 runs in 12 T20Is at an average of 27.33 and took 12 wickets.
