Mominul Haque was born on 29 September 1991. He is a Bangladeshi cricketer who is a former captain of the Bangladesh national Test team as well. The left-handed batter made his first-class cricket debut during the 2008–09 season while playing in a National Cricket League (NCL) match for Dhaka Division against Chittagong Division as well. He made his List A cricket debut later in the season, but in the following season, he was playing for Chittagong in the NCL. As of December 2022, he has continued to play for Chittagong in domestic cricket and playing for East Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League tournament as well.

After having made his Twenty20 cricket debut for a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI against the West Indians in 2011, he was selected to play for Barisal Burners in the 2012 Bangladesh Premier League and since then, he has been playing in the competition for five of the eight franchises as well. Notably, he made both his One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) debuts against the West Indies in a home series in 2012 as a replacement for the injured Shakib Al Hasan as well. In four matches he scored 69 runs and claimed two wickets. However, he made his Test match debut in March 2013, while playing against Sri Lanka at Galle. He scored a fifty on his debut and finished the tour with 156 runs in three innings which came at an average of 52.00 runs per innings in his maiden Test series as well.

However, he made his first hundred in a Test match against New Zealand at Chittagong in 2013, scoring from only 100 balls. In the second Test of the series, he again scored a ton, becoming only the second Bangladesh batsman after Tamim Iqbal to hit two centuries in two consecutive Test matches as well. He hit another century at Chittagong during the season, this time against Sri Lanka as well. Notably, in November 2014 Mominul Haque scored his fourth Test hundred against Zimbabwe. By May 2015 he had appeared in 15 Test matches and became only the fifth batsman to score a fifty in at least one innings of a Test match in 11 consecutive matches as well.

Meanwhile, in January 2018, Mominul Haque scored tons in each innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka, smashing 176 and 105 not out. This was the first time a Bangladeshi batsman had scored centuries in both innings of a Test match as well. However, the first Test of Bangladesh’s tour of South Africa in 2022 was his 50th Test match, and he became the seventh Bangladeshi player to play 50 or more Tests as well.
