Maxwell O’Dowd popularly known as Max is a professional cricketer, who plays for Netherlands cricket team Internationally. Max has been a part of the Netherlands national cricket team since 2015. Max has represented the Netherlands team in One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals. Max was born on 4 March 1994 in Auckland city of New Zealand. Max is a right handed batsman and a right arm part time off spinner. Max has been a part of three ICC tournaments while playing for Netherlands. Max’s father Alex O’Dowd was also a cricketer, as he played first class cricket for Auckland and Northern Districts. His father Alex also coached a club in the Netherlands for HBS Craeyenhout.

Max’s mother belongs to Auckland, New Zealand. Max stayed in the Netherlands till the age of 12 and after that he went to New Zealand and joined Westlake Boys High School. In the 2012 European Challenge series, Max played for the Netherlands under 19 team. He took a five wicket haul and scored 2 half centuries in the tournament. In the year 2013, Max went to England and played club cricket there. He also played a single match for Nottinghamshire in the second eleven championship. In the 2014-15 season, Max continued to play cricket for Auckland. Max was signed by the Northern Hurricanes team in the north sea pro series in 2015. It is a professional league, which has teams from the Netherlands and Scotland.

After performing consistently well at club levels, Max got the opportunity to represent the Netherlands national team. In the Intercontinental Cup of June 2015, Max played his debut match for Netherlands senior team against Papua New Guinea. Max managed to score 14 runs in his first match before getting out by Loa Nou. In the second innings, Max got out without scoring any runs. His first in the match was off Lega Siaka, which he took in the second innings of Papua New Guinea. It was on 1 July 2015, when Max played his debut T20 International match for Netherlands against Nepal. Max was included in the Netherlands team for both WCL championship and 2015 ICC T20 world cup qualifiers. 

It was on 14 September 2015, when Max played his List A cricket debut match against Scotland in the WCL championship. Max became part of the Netherlands One Day International team to play against Nepal. However, he didn’t make it to playing 11. It was on 19 June 2019, when Max played his ODI debut match against Zimbabwe. In 2019, Max was selected in the Netherlands team for the 2019 ICC world cup qualifiers in UAE. In the second match of the Nepal Tri Nation series, Max scored 133 runs from just 73 balls against Malaysia. By doing so, Max became the first Netherlands player to score a hundred in T20I. By scoring a half century in the first match against Scotland in May 2021, he became the second batsman after Tom Cooper to score three half centuries in the first three ODIs of his career.
