Star India player Jemimah Rodrigues was born on 5th September 2000. She is an Indian cricketer who also plays for the Mumbai women’s cricket team. However, she also played for the Under-17 Maharashtra hockey team. In June 2018, she was awarded the Jagmohan Dalmiya Award presented by former India captain MS Dhoni for Best Domestic Junior Women’s Cricketer by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Jharkhand as well. She started playing season cricket at an early age and she used to play both hockey and cricket in her youth as well.
However, Jemimah Rodrigues was selected for the Maharashtra under-17 and under-19 hockey teams at an early age where her cricket U-19 debut came at the age of 12-and-a-half, during the 2012-13 cricket season as well. She was picked when only 13 for the under-19 state cricket team as well. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues became the second woman after Smriti Mandhana to score a double century in a 50-over cricket match. She scored 202* in just 163 balls in Aurangabad against the Saurashtra team in November 2017 which also included 21 boundaries as well. Just before this match, she also scored 178 off 142 balls against the Gujarat team in the under-19 tournament as well.
She made her Women’s Twenty20 International cricket (WT20I) debut for India Women against South Africa Women on 13 February 2018 whereas her Women’s One Day International cricket (WODI) debut came against Australia Women on 12 March 2018 as well. In 2021, Rodrigues played in the inaugural Hundred competition for the Northern Superchargers. She did well with the bat, averaging 41.50 and also posting the highest score of the Women’s Hundred with 92* against Welsh Fire as well. She also plays for Melbourne Renegades in the 2021 Women’s Big Bash League. However, in July 2022, she played for India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Moreover, Delhi Capitals bought her for Rs 2.20 Crore in the inaugural edition of Women’s Premier League 2023 as well.
