Dwaine Pretorius is a professional cricketer, who has represented South Africa cricket team Internationally. Dwaine comes from the Transvaal Province of South Africa. He is a bowling all rounder who bats with his right hand and bowls right arm medium fast. In domestic cricket, Dwaine plays for North West. He was born on 29 March, 1989. Dwaine announced his retirement from International cricket on 9th of January, 2023. Dwaine is a part of several Twenty20 leagues like Indian Premier League, T20 Global League and others. He is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings under MS. Dhoni in the Indian Premier League.

In the inaugural season of the T20 Global League, Dwaine was selected by Cape Town Knight Riders in August 2017. The league was, however, delayed by the South Africa Cricket Board to October 2018. Later it got canceled due to several reasons. In the inaugural edition of Mzansi Super League, Dwaine became part of the Jozi Stars in October, 2018. The next year in April 2019, he was acquired by Northamptonshire for the league named T20 Blast in England. He became part of Mzansi Super League in 2019 for the Paarl Rocks team. The same year in December, Dwaine got to play in the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar Zalmi’s squad.

In the month of February, 2022, Dwaine was signed by Chennai Super Kings in the mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL). In the Lanka Super League, Dwaine was bought by Colombo Stars for their third edition. It was on 25 September, 2016, when Dwaine played his One Day International (ODI) debut match for South Africa against Ireland. Due to Chris Morris knee injury, he was replaced by Dwaine in South Africa’s team for their ODI series against Australia. He had a decent performance in the series as he got to play in the 3rd and 4th match of the series in which he took 1 wicket and batted in one match, scoring 15 of 20 balls.

South Africa has a Test series against Australia, in which Dale Steyn was replaced by Dwaine Pretorius due to his shoulder injury. In the year 2017, Dwaine was selected in South Africa’s team for their T20 International series against England. On 21 June, he played his debut T20I match for SA. Dwaine became the part of South Africa’s team for the ICC cricket world cup in 2019. He was again selected in the Test team for the series against England in December 2019. On 26 December, he played his first Test match. Dwaine was given a central contract by the South Africa Cricket Board prior to the 2020-21 cricket season. In a series against Pakistan Dwaine took his first 5 wickets in a single match on 13 February, 2021. Dwaine has had an impactful cricketing career in both domestic and International cricket.
