Cheteshwar Pujara was born on 25 January 1988. He is an Indian international cricketer who plays Test cricket for India and plays for Saurashtra in domestic cricket. He is a right-handed batter who made his first-class debut for Saurashtra in December 2005 and his Test debut came at Bangalore in October 2010. However, he was a part of the India A team which toured England in the 2010 summers and he was also the highest scorer on the tour as well. His test comeback came against New Zealand in August 2012, smashing a century.

He made his first double hundred against England at Ahmedabad in November 2012 and scored another double hundred against Australia in March 2013 and both innings helped India to victory and he become a man of the match as well. In February 2017, during the one-off Test match against Bangladesh, he set a new record for the most runs by a batsman in an Indian first-class season as well with a whopping 1,605 runs. In November 2017, he hit his twelfth double-century in first-class cricket, the most by an Indian batsman, breaking the earlier record set by Vijay Merchant as well.

Cheteshwar Pujara was added to the Indian squad for the two-match Test series against Australia in 2010 at home replacing the all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. His Test debut came in the second Test of the series which was on 9 October 2010 at Bangalore after both Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman were out with injuries sustained in the First Test. In his first Test innings, Pujara scored four runs before getting out to Mitchell Johnson on the third ball as well. In the second innings, Pujara scored 72 before being bowled. However, Pujara became the second-fastest player to score 1,000 test runs by an Indian player. He scored 5,000 runs in Tests and became the fifth fastest Indian to reach the feat in terms of innings batted (108) as well. He is the eleventh Indian cricketer to reach 6000 Test Runs as well.
