On Saturday, December 17, Australia was down one wicket in the opening Test match between Australia and South Africa at The Gabba in Brisbane on the very first ball of the first innings as Kagiso Rabada dismissed David Warner for a first-ball duck. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl in the game. South Africa were defeated by Australia in the first innings of the first Test at the Gabba, with Nathan Lyon demolishing the opposition and Mitchell Starc taking 299 Test wickets. Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first on a slick wicket, a decision that paid off handsomely.

Before tea, Australia bowled South Africa out for 152, with Starc (3-41) and Lyon (3-14) each taking three wickets, and Scott Boland (2-28) and Cummins (2-35) both taking two. South Africa has been knocked out for less than 180 runs in five straight innings. Australia was 1-9 in response, with David Warner out on the first ball of the hosts’ innings to Kagiso Rabada. Warner’s golden duck was his first in Test cricket since January 2013, and he now has a season average of 20.40. Kagiso Rabada dug in a short ball, which Warner fended to short leg, where Khaya Zondo caught it with one hand at full stretch.
