After winning the toss in the second ODI in Raipur, Rohit Sharma took a dramatic ten-second pause before stating he wanted to bowl. Because there was “a lot of conversation in the team group about what we wanted to accomplish,” India’s captain said he had nearly forgotten what the team’s choice was. India chose to bowl under lights in the first ODI to test themselves. They changed their minds this time due to the forecast dew later. Both teams came into the game unchanged.

I forgot what we wanted to do, and had plenty of discussions with the team about the toss decision. Just wanted to challenge ourselves under difficult conditions, but we’ll bowl first. Was a good test for us, knowing that the wicket will get better to bat on and that was the challenge in front of us. Bracewell batted well, but we bowled well in the end and won the game. There was a bit of dew during the practice sessions, but we’ve heard from the curator that it will not play a role on game days. We batted first in Hyderabad, we wanted to bowl first here, the same team, Rohit said at the toss.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham stated he would have bowled as well because he wasn’t sure how the pitch would react in the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium’s international debut. The ground has large square borders, and Grant Elliott predicted some pace and bounce throughout the game during the pitch report. India leads the series 1-0 after a 12-run victory in the first ODI, which went into the final over with India having scored 349.

India won the first game

A double century is rarely followed by another great knock by a batter. Shubman Gill is able to buck that pattern. Given that his last three scores were 116, 21 and 70, you wouldn’t hold that against him. The batting lineup does appear to be quite formidable right now, but India will be concentrating on their bowlers. They allowed Dasun Shanaka to score heavily a few days ago while rallying next to the tail. Additionally, they briefly held the lead in Hyderabad but were unable to secure the crucial wicket that would have given them the upper hand.

India playing XI

New Zealand playing XI
