We often see funny things keep happening in sports, especially in cricket. And, a run out in a weird fashion is one of them. Recently, veteran all-rounder Andre Russell faced the same during the game between Khulna Tigers (KT) and Minister Group Dhaka (MSD) in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

In the 15th over of the first innings, a funny dismissal took place where Dhaka all-rounder Andre Russell hit the ball to the third man off Khulna Tigers’ Thisara Perera. After that, he ran for a quick single on the last ball of the over as well. Non-striker Mahmudullah too raced towards the other end and got his bat inside the crease just before the fielder threw the ball to the stumps and perfectly completed the direct hit.

The ball then returned and hit straight onto the stumps at the non-striker’s end as well which left everyone shocked. Russell, however, was expecting the throw to go at the striker’s end. And, Dhaka appealed for run-outs at both ends as well. While Mahmudullah was safe considering he entered the crease, Andre Russell had to return to the pavilion on 7.

However, Khulna Tigers eventually won the game, as they registered a five-wicket win in the second game of the tournament. While batting first, Minister Group Dhaka put up 183/6 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad scored a quickfire 42 off 27 balls, while Tamim Iqbal scored a 42-ball 50. On the other hand, captain Mahumdullad scored 39 off 20 deliveries, helping his team to a decent total as well.

While chasing, Khulna Tigers reached the finish line with five wickets and an over to spare. Rony Talukdar top-scored with a 42-ball 61 for his team, whereas Andre Fletcher scored 45 off 23 balls as well.
