Team India skipper Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma have donated INR 2 crore in order to assist the fight against COVID-19 in India. Virat and Anushka took to social media, in order to express the pain which they were feeling on seeing the nation suffer the wrath of COVID-19. They further expressed their gratefulness towards those who have been fighting against the virus day and night, without caring about the personal risk involved.

“Things have been very tough for India, as we fight the pandemic, and it really pains us to see our country suffer like this. We are grateful to all the people who have been fighting for us day and night. Their dedication is appreciated. But, now, they need our support and we must stand by their side. So, Anushka and I have started a fundraiser on Ketto, with the funds going towards ACT Grants. And we request you all to join this initiative and donate. Every little bit makes a difference,” said Virat and Anushka in a video posted on social media.

“To our family, friends, and fans, this is a time to stand shoulder to shoulder. We will overcome this together. We can win this battle if we are in it together. Stay safe. Jai Hind,” they added.

Kohli and entire RCB team back home safely

Kohli and the entire Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team have safely made it to their respective homes after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was postponed. A call on the remaining matches of the tournament will be taken later, keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation in the country.

The Indian team is expected to leave for England in the coming days, considering the final of the maiden edition of the World Test Championship (WTC), which is set to be played against New Zealand. Team India recently recorded a home series triumph against England, emerging victorious by sizeable margins. They will be looking to go on and make their presence felt in the final.

Rohit Sharma will be partnered by Shubman Gill at the top. The rest of the batting remains the same with Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Vihari and Rishabh Pant being the middle order. However, KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha’s availability will be subject to a fitness clearance. Saha has tested positive for COVID-19 while Rahul has undergone surgery for acute appendicitis.
