Virat Kohli’s ‘lean patch’ is now approaching close to three years now. The former India cricket team skipper last hit a century in ODIs in August 2019. In Tests, Virat Kohli last hit a century in November 2019. Combined with all these months, Virat Kohli has now gone 28 months without a century in any format and even in the IPL. During the second ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli was dismissed for 18.

Kohli started off in grand style, hitting Kemar Roach for two boundaries. He also got a boundary off Odean Smith. Occasionally, he was beaten by the late movement and played some loose shots. However, when he reached 18, Virat Kohli edged a good length ball that shaped away from Odean Smith and he edged it to the keeper. But, despite the low score, Kohli still achieved a notable milestone.

Speaking about the current situation with Virat Kohli’s form, former India cricket team opener, and commentator Aakash Chopra said he is unable to figure out why Kohli is struggling. On his Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra stated that he was not measuring Kohli according to the yardstick that he has created. He was measuring Kohli based on the normal returns of the other batters in the last couple of years.

“What is happening with Virat, he didn’t score runs again, I mean I’m not able to understand it – how do you? Obviously, he pays a huge price for his own success because you compare him with his standard but at the moment, you are not measuring him with someone else’s yardstick but the normal yardstick. It’s just not happening at this point in time. He was in a hurry in the last match. But here he was playing properly, coming in line, played a good cut and drive as well. Then one ball comes from Odean Smith and he remains slightly back, the ball takes the outside edge and goes,” Chopra stated.
