Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat in the second and final Test against India in Dhaka on Thursday, looking to level the series. India, who won the first Test by 188 runs, were missing injured captain Rohit Sharma, who KL Rahul replaced. The visitors rested left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who had eight wickets in the first game, and replaced him with paceman Jaydev Unadkat. Bangladesh made two changes, replacing the injured Ebadot Hossain with Taskin Ahmed and Yasir Ali with Mominul Haque. “Hard decision on Kuldeep but we know (Ravichandran) Ashwin and Axar (Patel) can find spin, and bring Jaydev in to cover all bases,” Rahul said.

With Bangladesh on 39, Zakir cut Unadkat’s delivery, only to be undone by the extra bounce. The ball struck him on the glove and flew to the fourth slip, giving Unadkat his maiden Test wicket. Shanto shouldered arms to a length ball from Ashwin in the next over, playing for a turn only for the ball to go with the arm from around the wicket and smack him on the pad. On the field, he was called out lbw, and a review returned an umpire’s call verdict with ball-tracking indicating the ball would have tickled off stump.
