Suryakumar Yadav put up a show in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand. He scored his second T20I century in 49 balls. He has gone from fifty to a century in only 17 balls. The onslaught did not spare any bowlers. He is only the second Indian to score two T20I centuries in a calendar year, following Rohit Sharma in 2018. He ended with 111 off 51 balls and helped India post 191 runs in the first innings. He could have gotten more but he could not get the strike in the last over as Tim Southee bagged his second hat-trick in T20Is.

Earlier, Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bowl in the second T20I in Mount Maunganui under cloudy skies and on a grassy surface. The first match of the series, in Wellington, was rained out before the coin toss. The sole alteration to New Zealand’s line-up that faced Pakistan in the T20 World Cup semi-final was Adam Milne replacing Trent Boult, who was not selected for this series, in contrast, India’s XI looked completely different from their previous game in the format, which was against England in the World Cup’s other semi-final. Hardik Pandya captained a side that was missing as many as six players, and left-handers Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant opened the innings.
