The IPL 2023 Auction was a rollercoaster ride filled with full of surprises. Kane Williamson was sold to Gujarat Titans for INR 2 crore at the outset of the process. It was surprising to see that none of the other nine teams were putting up a fight. But what happened next was quite spectacular yet was on the expected lines. When Sunrisers Hyderabad signed England’s Harry Brook for INR 13.25 crore, he drew a lot of attention. The spotlight then turned to Mayank Agarwal, who struck a deal with SRH for INR 8.25 crore. The English players dominated the auctions, with Punjab Kings paying a record-breaking INR 18.50 crore for all-rounder Sam Curran, making him the most expensive player in IPL history.

The sale of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to five-time winners Mumbai Indians for INR 17.50 crore and Ben Stokes to four-time champions Chennai Super Kings for INR 16.25 crore were undoubtedly the highlights of the day. The striking thing was that uncapped players earned a lot of money for the tournament’s upcoming 16th edition. Shivam Mavi, a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2022, has been signed by Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2023. The defending champions outbid CSK, KKR, and Rajasthan Royals and paid INR 6 crore for Mavi, who was originally registered for INR 40 lakh.
