SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) left-arm pacer T Natarajan has been ruled out of the remaining matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 due to a knee injury. Natarajan played only two matches this season for the Hyderabad-based franchise before being advised not to take further part in the tournament. The 30-year-old’s last game was against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 14, with this information according to a report from Cricbuzz certainly a source of great concern for SRH fans.

The report further stated that sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL have revealed that the pacer could be asked to report back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. There is a lack of clarity over the stage at which Natarajan’s issue became serious. However, the aggravation was reported to the BCCI by the NCA physios who have been monitoring his fitness status.

“We have not got the full report but we have been told that he has developed a strain in the knee. He will have to undergo rehab in the NCA,” said the source as quoted in the report.

SRH have had a dismal start to the campaign. They lost their opening three matches, before finally managing to earn their first points of the campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS). It was a win that was down to a masterful bowling display.

SRH bundled PBKS for 120 and chased it down with ease, winning the game with nine wickets to spare.
