Suresh Raina is one of the legends of the Indian Premier League and the Indian cricket team. Raina is the second-highest run-getter in the IPL, scoring 5430 runs at an average of 33.3 and a strike-rate of 137. He is trailing only Virat Kohli by 519 runs and is ahead of the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Heading into Chennai Super Kings’ match against Rajasthan Royals, Raina is on the cusp of entering a very elite double century club.

Currently, Raina is on 198 sixes from 195 games. If he hits two sixes against Rajasthan Royals, then he will become the eighth person to hit 200 sixes in the IPL. He will be the second Chennai Super Kings player after MS Dhoni to reach the landmark. The former India captain has 216 sixes from 206 games while Raina is on the cusp of the milestone. Chris Gayle, currently playing for Punjab Kings, has the most sixes with 352 from 135 games.

Pillar of Chennai Super Kings

The left-hander has been pivotal to the fortunes of Chennai Super Kings in IPL ever since 2008. When CSK was suspended for two years, Raina played for the Gujarat Lions. However, when Chennai Super Kings were reinstated, Raina was one of the stars.

When Raina missed the 2020 edition of the IPL due to fears of the coronavirus, Chennai Super Kings suffered. Their middle order was not upto the mark and injuries at wrong times to key players compounded their woes. Raina’s absence was such that CSK did not qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their IPL history.

In IPL 2021, Raina hit a fifty in their first game against Delhi Capitals. However, in their next game, Raina fell for 8 against Punjab Kings.
