Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad donated a sum of Rs 30 crores towards the coronavirus relief fund. A tweet from the franchise’s official handle revealed the donation was made to various state and central government programs. This includes tie-ups with NGO’s that provide oxygen cylinders, medicines etc. Sunrisers Hyerabad joined many cricketing entities in providing aid as India battles the coronavirus.

The Sun Network said it was exploring options to leverage resources, including media assets. Greater awareness can be spread among viewers across the country and globally about the ongoing pandemic.

The fund will be donated for several initiatives currently under way at various states of India. This includes donations to various programmes initiated by the Government of India and state governments. Sunrisers Hyderabad will also aid NGOs that are helping migrant labourers displaced from their livelihoods and other initiatives related to COVID 19 relief work.

Along with Sunrisers Hyderabad, The Sun Group has 33 television channels and has 45 FM radio stations, two daily newspapers, five magazines.

UPSETTING IPL FOR SRH

SunRisers Hyderabad were at the bottom of IPL. Having won only one match out of seven games, nothing seemed to be going right for them. They removed David Warner as captain and replaced him with Kane Williamson. The New Zealand captain only managed to lead the side once before the IPL was postponed due to coronavirus. The SRH camp was also hit by the coronavirus. Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for coronavirus just before the game against Delhi Capitals.

As the bio-bubble was breached, the IPL authorities had no option but to postpone IPL 2021. A window is being deliberated to resume the IPL.
