IPL 2022: Shimron Hetmyer sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.5 crore, Manish Pandey goes to Lucknow

Shimron Hetmyer has been bought for Rs 8.5 crore by Rajasthan Royals after an intense bidding session against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Shimron Hetmyer continued the trend of big bids in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. From his base price of Rs 1.5 crore, Hetmyer almost had a five-fold increase in his price. After intense bidding for the West Indies player from Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, Shimron Hetmyer was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.5 crore.

Manish Pandey was bought for Rs 4.6 crore by the Lucknow Super Giants after a decent round of bidding from Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, after he reached the Rs 3 crore bid, Sunrisers Hyderabad was out and Lucknow Super Giants came in. Delhi Capitals tried but they could not match Lucknow Super Giants. Robin Uthappa was bought for Rs 2 crore by Chennai Super Kings. Jason Roy was bought for his base price of Rs 2 crore to Gujarat Titans. David Miller was unsold, making him the first player.

David Warner has come back to Delhi after a gap of almost a decade. The Australian left-hander, who was the star for Sunrisers Hyderabad for nine years, has been selected by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore. Warner had intense bids from Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians but in the end, Delhi Capitals got his services.

Shreyas Iyer First to Rs 10 Crore

Shreyas Iyer became the first player to break the Rs 10 crore price range in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.25 crore as teams clamoured for his services. In addition, Mohammed Shami was sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs 6.25 crore after an intense bid from Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was tipped that Shreyas Iyer would be bid big time and it was proven to be right.

The marquee set of players in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction continued to get big bids. After Shikhar Dhawan and R Ashwin, Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada were bought by the franchises. Pat Cummins was bought for Rs 7.25 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR had competition from Gujarat Titans but Cummins was bought in the end. But, the rate for Cummins is almost half of the rate that he was bought for in IPL 2020. In that edition, Pat Cummins was bought for a record Rs 15.5 crore.

However, after Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada was part of an intense bid between Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. Rabada became the most expensive player so far with Rs 9.25 crore as he went to Punjab Kings. This would be the second franchise that Rabada plays for after a couple of years with the Delhi Capitals franchise. He had been the leading wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2019 and 2020 edition.

After Rabada and Cummins, Trent Boult of New Zealand was the next bowler. He got great bids from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals

Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin Shine

Shikhar Dhawan was the first player to be bought in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, there were bids from Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. In the end, Shikhar Dhawan was bought for Rs 8.25 crore by Punjab Kings. The next player who was bought by R Ashwin.

Ashwin was sold for Rs 5 Crore to Rajasthan Royals. There was an intense bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. Dhawan, who was released by the Delhi Capitals after the end of the IPL 2021 edition, had a decent amount of bidding. A total of 217 slots will be filled, with 600 players up for grabs.
