Shikhar Dhawan overtakes David Warner, Rohit Sharma to become 3rd highest run-scorer in IPL

Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan has now overtaken David Warner and Rohit Sharma on the list of leading run-getters in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhawan smashed 92 runs off 49 deliveries in an innings comprising of thirteen boundaries and two sixes, during an IPL 2021 league match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He surpassed the SRH skipper and MI captain during the course of this knock and currently occupies the third position on the list.

Dhawan has now accumulated 5,381 runs in 179 IPL matches at an average of 35.16 and strike rate of 127.90. Warner is placed fourth having scored 5,347 runs in 145 IPL games at an average of 42.43 and strike rate of 141.19. Rohit occupies the fifth spot on the list, with 5,324 runs accumulated over the course of 203 clashes at an average of 31.31 and a strike rate of 130.61.

Virat Kohli Continues To Lead The Charts

Virat Kohli continues to lead the run-scoring charts in the cash-rich league, with 5,949 runs in 195 IPL matches at an average of 37.89 and strike rate of 130.46. Suresh Raina is placed on the second spot, having accumulated 5,430 runs in the same number of games as Kohli, at an average of 33.31 and strike rate of 137.15.

Dhawan further jumped to the top of the run-scoring charts in IPL 2021, taking the Orange Cap from RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. The 35-year-old has accumulated 186 runs in three matches at an average of 62 and strike rate of 163.15 so far. Maxwell has scored 176 runs at an average of 58.66 and strike rate of 149.15.

KL Rahul, Nitish Rana and AB de Villiers round off the top-five run-scorers in the ongoing edition. Rahul has accumulated 157 runs at an average of 52.33 and strike rate of 145.37. Rana and De Villiers have scored 155 and 125 runs respectively.
