Shaheen last played in T20 World Cup

Shaheen was last seen playing international cricket in 2022 when he faced England in the ICC T20 World Cup final. He was unable to bowl any more after suffering a setback when bowling his third over of the game due to his knee ailment. That was a critical juncture in the game since Pakistan was breathing down England’s neck with their pace attack, and Shaheen’s absence meant that skipper Babar Azam had to employ a spinner instead of him, which completely shifted the game in England’s favour.

Shaheen was always a concern even before he entered the competition because he had a knee ailment and was returning from knee surgery. He was out of action for a short time after missing the Asia Cup 2022 and a critical series (seven-match T20I series) against England at home building up to the T20 World Cup. With the latest edition of the Pakistan Super League just around the corner, the pacer is on the mend and was spotted bowling in the nets a few days ago.
