West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin smashed her career-best ODI score of 150 from just 158 balls in the rain-abandoned 1st ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg. His innings comprised 18 fours and four sixes.

South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first. Although West Indies lost two early wickets and Stafanie Taylor got hurt, Dottin stitched a 186-run third-wicket stand with Hayley Mathews which took the team past 200 as well. Mathews backed Dottin by scoring 51 off 63 but fell after her fifty. However, Dottin played the anchor’s role to push West Indies to 234 for 3 in the 46th over as well.

Soon after this, rain arrived and eventually played the spoilsport and all of her efforts became wasted as the match was washed out. West Indies’ innings ended on 234 for 3 due to the rain, leaving South Africa to chase a total of 204 in 29 overs when the play resumed. South Africa, however, had a rough start as they were struggling to stitch a partnership in between. Laura Wolvaardt too fell in the third over and no one could steady the ship as well.

They were reduced to 87 for 5 in the 18th over with none of the top-order batters could contribute much. In the end, it didn’t affect much as rain once again returned to ensure there wouldn’t be any more play possible on the day.

Brief Scores: West Indies Women 234/3 in 45.3 overs (Deandra Dottin 150*, Hayley Mathews 51; Shabnim Ismail 1-24) vs South Africa Women 87/5 in 17.4 overs (Tazmin Brits 32; Karishma Ramharack 2-18). No result due to rain.
