Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson is considered one of the most entertaining batsmen in the shortest format of the game. Samson is further a very reliable keeper and extremely good at completing tough catches. The same prowess at pulling off stunners behind the stumps was visible during RR’s second league match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The RR skipper leapt full strength to his right following a premeditative scoop against a fullish ball by Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan shuffled across to play the scoop, resulting in an edge off the top part of the bat. The opener failed to make proper contact because of the awkward position, resulting in an opportunity for his dismissal which Samson completed in an excellent manner.

The RR skipper’s brilliant catch is visible in a video shared by a fan on social media platform Twitter. Here is a look at Samson’s sensational effort:

Contrasting Fortunes Of Both Teams

The Rajasthan-based franchise started its league campaign in the 2021 edition on a bitter note, following a close defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS). They further lost all-rounder Ben Stokes due to an injury sustained during the same encounter. Stokes’ absence is certainly an area of concern, considering the destruction he is capable of.

The Delhi-based franchise on the other hand, recorded a triumph in their opening league encounter of the season. DC defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets, enabling skipper Rishabh Pant to get his captaincy stint with the franchise off to a strong start.

The Delhi-based franchise has announced its decision to include Shams Mulani as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel. Axar had tested positive for COVID during his mandatory quarantine ahead of the season.

The Delhi-based franchise has also signed Anirudha Joshi as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer. Iyer is ruled out of the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league, following an injury sustained during the recently concluded ODI series between India and England.
