Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma became the first Indian cricketer to feature in 350 Twenty20 matches when he walked out for the toss of the defending champions’ Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 league encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Mumbai-based franchise returned to winning ways with a triumph in their most recent game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). CSK on the other hand are enjoying an excellent five-match winning run, which is an indication of the confidence in the minds of the players.

Rohit is the only cricketer to have won five IPL trophies. The batsman was further a part of the Deccan Chargers (DC) triumph in 2009, with the player going on to join MI in 2011.

If MI win the match tonight against CSK, it will be Rohit’s 72nd win as a captain in the IPL. This will make him the second most successful skipper in the cash-rich league, overtaking Gautam Gambhir (71 wins). Only MS Dhoni has won more matches as the captain in IPL (115 matches).

Rohit holds an extremely impressive record in international cricket, having smashed the most number of sixes by an Indian. The 34-year-old has accumulated 436 maximums, with Dhoni coming next at 359. Overall, he is the third-highest, behind Shahid Afridi (476) and Chris Gayle (535).

Rohit was at his best during the 2019 World Cup in England. In 9 games, he cumulatively scored 648 runs, the most in that season across the teams. Striking at an average of 81 every game, he had one half-century and five centuries.

His five 100s came against South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, England and Bangladesh. In doing so, he also amassed six World Cup hundreds in his career, equalling record-holder Sachin Tendulkar.

Suresh Raina’s Incredible Milestone

CSK batsman Suresh Raina is playing his 200th match in the cash-rich league. He is the fourth player to reach the milestone. The first three cricketers are MS Dhoni, Rohit and Dinesh Karthik.

Pacer Deepak Chahar is playing his 50th match in the IPL for the Chennai-based franchise. He is the first specialist fast-bowler to represent CSK in 50 games.
